The Geoinformation Group at TU Vienna is looking for a PhD Student from candidates of Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Science, Geoinformation Science.

About- Research group would like you to contribute to our research in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction and Geographic Information Science. The position is not tied to a specific predetermined project. Some of the areas we are interested in are: spatial human-computer interaction, human navigation, location based services, smart cities, augmented and virtual reality, gaze-based interaction, spatio-temporal decision making as well as ubiquitous computing.

Research group welcome applicants with a doctoral degree in the area of Computer Science and Geoinformation Science or any related field.

  • Minimum 3711,10 Euro gross (14 x per year)

Research group is offering an interesting full position in our group for up to 6 years. We are currently implementing our spatial interaction lab and plan to equip it with mobile and remote eye trackers, body trackers, augmented reality as well as virtual reality glasses, among others.

Eligibility/Qualification- The ideal candidate must have an academic degree (Master Degree or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Science, Geoinformation Science), as well as strong research interests in Human-Computer Interaction and Geographic Information Science.

Good programming skills (e.g., Java, C++, Python) as well as experience in machine learning applications are required. Previous experience with eye tracking, empirical research, mixed environments, computer vision and geographic information science is a plus. Furthermore, the candidate must have good communication skills in English (oral and written) and be a team player.

Job/Position Description- We welcome applications from students that are enthusiastic about working in the area of human-computer interaction with a focus on spatial interaction.

The main aim of this 4 year position is to develop an understanding and assist humans during interaction with elements of their surrounding as well as with digital information during spatial decision making. The research is expected to lead to publications and a PhD dissertation for the student.
