Research/Job Area- Analytical chemistry

Project Title- Surface Enhanced Spectroscopy to Study Electrochemical Reactions in a Microfluidic Chip

Location- University of Twente, Netherlands


A candidate with a PhD in analytical chemistry. Most importantly that includes experience in electrochemistry.

Additionally experience with any of the used analytical methods such as infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, or mass spectrometry is greatly appreciated.

Moreover, knowledge or experience in operating microfluidic chips is considered as another key advantage.

The candidate should be able to work independently, and have excellent theoretical and experimental skills. Fluent command of English is required

Job/Position Description- This is a Post-doctoral researcher position for the duration of 3 years. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities.

Research in this project will be conducted in close collaboration with the Analytical Biochemistry group at the University of Groningen ( in the field of electrochemistry-mass spectrometry related to the further development of electrochemical, site-specific peptide bond cleavage in proteins, and electrochemically-driven conversions of drug molecules.

The gross monthly salary starts at € 3255,- (scale 10, level 4) gross per month excluding allowances in accordance with the job profile ‘post-doctoral researcher’, under the University System for Job Classification (UJC).

Most importantly, the BIOS Lab-on-a-Chip group in general, and this project in particular are very challenging multidisciplinary environments. It is therefore essential to show willingness to look beyond disciplinary boundaries, to learn new techniques and skills required for this project. This post-doctoral researcher position involves frequent travel between the research groups in Groningen and Enschede. Willingness to conduct such travel is mandatory.
