PNNL- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, US offers Post Doctorate RA Position for outstanding candidate working on in-situ scanning/transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM) studies of energy storage materials, typically such as lithium ion batteries and related materials.

Location- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory – PNNL, RICHLAND, Washington, US
Eligibility/Qualification- Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications- Must have completed extensive material science research using TEM. Ph.D. in material science, physics, chemistry or related field
The candidate should have in depth knowledge and practical experience (including TEM sample preparation with a range of methods) in imaging and spectroscopy of TEM, STEM, EELS, and EDS. Practical experience on operation of probe corrected and monochromated TEM/STEM, nanomanipulation within S/TEM, and SEM/FIB lift out technique. Knowledge of electrochemistry, battery devices fabrication and testing as evidenced by peer reviewed publications, will be advantages. In addition, the candidate should also possess knowledge and experiences on structural characterization using tools such as APT, XRD, XPS, SIMS, and properties measurement (electrochemical properties). The candidate is also expected to help some of the other users in the TEM laboratory in operation of the microscope and data collection. The position is open for 1 year and may be extended for a total of up to 3 years.
Job/Position Description- Research group is searching for outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position working on in-situ scanning/transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM) studies of energy storage materials, typically such as lithium ion batteries and related materials. Emphasis will be focused on using in-situ and ex-situ S/TEM, electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) to probe into the structural and chemical evolution of lithium ion battery materials under dynamic operation conditions of the battery in a S/TEM column.
