Project Title – Field of thin film deposition
Location- EMPA- Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology,
You must hold a Doctoral Degree in Chemistry, Materials Sciences or Physics from an internationally recognized institution.
Research group require excellent and highly motivated scientists who want to push forward science frontiers in our international and multidisciplinary research team.
Hands-on based expertise in thin film deposition and characterization methods (preferably transmission electron microscopy) as well as in modelling/simulations for the design of experiments is mandatory.
Your work will proceed in a creative, self-initiative team player environment into which research group expect you to adapt smoothly with very good knowledge of English (oral and written) as well as excellent communication skills.
Job/Position Description- You will work on research projects funded by Innosuisse – Swiss Innovation Agency and be involved in thin film deposition activities of our laboratory, specifically in atomic layer deposition and the structural and mechanical characterization of thin films.
Analytical and numerical modelling is integral to establish process and functional multilayer materials design guidelines.
You will also be involved in several projects running in other groups of our laboratory which develop model materials for fundamental mechanical studies by physical vapour deposition, electro-chemical deposition, and via 3D printing approaches.
Outstanding candidates will also be given the opportunity to apply to a number of prestigious fellowships during their employment at Empa.
Research group offer an ideal working environment at Empa in Thun. This position is immediately available for a period of one year with the possibility of extension up to three years.
