Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) offers postdoctoral position for highly motivated candidates at the Center for Nanotechnology Innovation.
About- IIT was established in 2003 and successfully created a large-scale infrastructure in Genova and a network of 10 state-of-the-art laboratories countrywide with an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT’s research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nano-biotechnologies.

Research/Job Area- Chemistry, Physics, Molecular Biology or related areas
- PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Molecular Biology or related areas.
- Experience in crystallography of proteins and/or organic molecules and/or inorganic materials
- Previous experience with diffraction methods in general
- Experience in transmission electron microscopy
- Excellent communication skills.
Project Title- Electron diffraction of protein nanocrystals
The ideal candidate should have either previous experience in protein crystallography, or in small-molecule crystallography. However, due the novelty of the field, also candidates that have generic experience in transmission electron microscopy or molecular biology are encouraged to apply.

Job/Position Description- The Electron Crystallography Research Line of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is looking for highly motivated candidates for a post-doctoral position at the Center for Nanotechnology Innovation (CNI) in Pisa, to work on electron diffraction of proteins nanocrystals.
The aim of the project is the development of methods for collecting electron diffraction data on protein sub-micrometric crystals suitable for structure solution.
The research will involve: 1) the design of specific procedures of data collection of electron diffraction in cryo condition exploiting the potentialities of a single electron detector for diffraction; 2) finding structure solution strategies for protein crystals by electron diffraction data.
