Professor Bruce’s research group is located in state-of-the-art laboratories on South Parks Road, and undertakes research in the Departments of Materials and Chemistry. You will have expertise in at least one of the following: electrochemistry, surface science, or spectroscopy. You will have background in electro-catalysis of oxygen reduction and evolution.

Project Title- Electrochemistry of the Lithium-Air Battery

Eligibility/Qualification- You will have a good first degree and a completed doctorate (by the start date) in a relevant area. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a strong record of journal publication or other output record commensurate with experience.
You will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of fundamental electrochemistry as well as experimental expertise demonstrating the ability to apply relevant electrochemical skills, techniques and methods including microkinetic tafel analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance, electrolysis and computational diffusion models.
Job/Position Description- We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher, to join the group of Professor Peter Bruce FRS, Wolfson Professor.
You will develop research objectives and proposals, plan, manage and carry out research in the area of Li-O2 batteries. You will investigate the electrochemistry of Li-O2 cells, with the aim of unlocking the performance of this potentially transformational energy storage technology. Achieving this will require a strong understanding of the fundamental electrochemical processes involved, such as O2 reduction and the lithium metal – electrolyte interface.
This full-time post is fixed-term for 1 year initially, up to 3 years total.
Grade 7: £31,604 – £38,833 p.a.
