School of Mathematics and Physics – University of Queensland, Australia offers postdoctoral research fellow position for candidates having PhD in theoretical physics with experience in the fields of quantum optics or condensed matter physics. Eligible and interested candidate can apply online. 

About- The School of Mathematics and Physics is a School within the Faculty of Science at the University of Queensland. The Discipline of Mathematics is located in the School of Mathematics and Physics. It is the leading provider of tertiary mathematics education in Queensland. Undergraduate programs offered are BMath, BSc, BA (each with an Honours year) and BAdvSci; Coursework degrees (MSc, MFinMath, MDataSc) and research degrees (MPhil and PhD) are offered at postgraduate level.

Eligibility/Qualification- Applicants should possess, or be in the process of obtaining, a PhD in theoretical physics with experience in the fields of quantum optics or condensed matter physics. You should also have a demonstrated capacity for research in theoretical physics; a high level of creativitiy, productivity and initiative; expert knowledge in theoretical quantym optics or condensed matter physics; and high level interpersonal and communication skills.

Job/Position Description- As part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS), the successful appointee will conduct theoretical research within the UQ Quantum Theory Group. This includes work on open quantum systems including optical, mechanical or electronic devices, quantum information theory, implementations of quantym technology and quantum metrology. There is scope for research into quantum measurement, feedback and control; quantum error correction and suppression; and quantum enabled sensors.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,533 – $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 – $102,416 p.a.).
