Research/Job Area- Cell/molecular biology, biotechnology or biophysics

Eligibility/Qualification- Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of cell/molecular biology, biotechnology or biophysics. You should have experience in the design, construction and mutagenesis of plasmids for expression of fluorescently tagged proteins as well as experience in cell culture, including maintaining, transfection and establishing cell models.

Also essential for this role is experience in the investigation of cell signalling using both imaging and protein biochemistry-based techniques. Evidence of contributing to this field of research and our understanding of these cellular responses, together with your demonstrated experience with top research groups, make you an ideal candidate for this position.

Job/Position Description- The Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Cell/Mechano-Biologist will form part of a research team focused on high resolution microscopy of cellular dynamics funded by the prestigious ARC Laureate Fellowship recently awarded to Prof. Rowan. This will involve the design and optimization of protein expression constructs, mutagenesis and the establishment of cell models for the study of mechanotransduction signaling pathways from a cell and molecular biology perspective. The aim will be to observe focal adhesions and cellular responses as a function of applied force. You will develop close scientific collaboration with other members of the laboratory and assume a leadership role in the group in the area of mechanotransduction. The successful candidate is expected to publish in high-quality research journals, participate in applications for external research funding and contribute to the research training of students.

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months at Research Academic Level A with the possibility of contract renewal contingent upon research outputs and deliverables. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,545 – $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95,408 – $102,416 p.a.).
