Eligibility/Qualification- Research group is looking for a highly ambitious, target oriented, self-driven and strong team-player, with a PhD-degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in experimental optics.
Experience in optical microscopy, optical instrumentation or diffuse optics for small animal imaging is highly desired. The candidate should have a proven track record of excellence in academics and experimental research.
No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO positions. Female scientists are encouraged to apply.
The contract is offered for periods of one year, renewable for a total of up to three years.
Job/Position Description- Light is playing an increasing role in medicine, both in the diagnostics and the therapy of diseases like cancer. In parallel, recent advances in nanotechnology and biochemistry open new opportunities to detect cancer earlier as well as improve the efficiency of its treatment while reducing its invasiveness. The present project sits at the interface between nanotechnology, in vivo imaging and medicine and aims at combining the latest advances of each field to develop and validate a novel and less invasive treatment of cancer.
Research group is looking for an individual with a strong interest in developing a multi-modal platform for real-time planning, dosimetry and evaluation of plasmonic enhanced photothermal therapy. The candidate will join and play a leadership role in a small team organized around these activities. We expect that he/she will bring in strong skills in merging different modalities into a usable, portable and robust imaging/treatment platform.
The selected candidate will strongly benefit from a multidisciplinary environment offered by the two hosting groups, strengthened by a close collaboration with a local biomedical institute and clinicians.
How to Apply- Suitable candidates are requested to submit online:
- Presentation letter with a declaration of interest,
- Curriculum Vitae, including full address, a contact phone number and e-mail address, as well as the contact e-mail of three potential referees.
